Is that a hanging Chad? Anywhere near Mayumbe? (No, I've never been there
but used to collect stamps some 60+ years ago and France issued some nice
postage stamps from there.)

I think the passage is a straight drilled hole up which you could probably
poke out with a wire or a drill. If not it is two intersecting drilled holes,
one of which goes to a rocker stand. It could even be that you have the
rocker stands mixed up or the rocker shaft upside down. When you pull the
rocker shaft you'll be able to find it.
