740 GLE stalling

Sounds like classic hall effect sensor symptoms in the distributor. I guess you may have been trying to suggest that it isn't since the tach is dropping in a particular way.

I had the same problem and the mechanic could not find anything wrong. Well that is because it would only die once every few days. Enough to be very annoying. So I did the hall effect sensor myself anyway and problems went away.
