Need help with a tune-up 700

'89, 740, 100K. Don't know when this car has had it's last tune up. Want to change spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. Seems pretty straight forward and have performed this on my jeep. Does anyone have any advice about what brand of components I should use as well as any tips on the proceedure? Willing to pay a little more for good stuff but I have no idea about which products are compatible with my 740.
