92 960 suddenly runs rough please help!

hi guys /gals
looks like my 2.9 needs rings is this worth while to rebuils it only has 166klm
or do i go turbo 4 or ford 302??
id like to know what has been done in the past by you people ... the car is mint worthy of repairing
the 2.9 was it good on fuel and what was the hp and torque outputs
i only drove it for one week then it dropped a cylinder
