240 speedometer 200

Why didn't I think of that?

Michael is exactly right.

If the speedo's "k" number is around 10000 (plus or minus 200), the original axle has an 8-hole ring. If the "k"-number around 40000 (plus or minus 800), the original axle has a 48-hole/tooth ring, and (I guess) if it is around 80000 (plus or minus 1600?), it has a 96-hole/tooth ring.

If the speedo has an "r" number instead of a "k" number, then it's mechanical rather than electronic. Not likely.
