Hi all,
I recently witnessed a pretty nasty car accident, in which an old lady was injured after her car smacked into a heap of soil because of a blown tire. I was the first to reach the car and I did all the necessary stuff until the ambulance came. I don't know if she's allright or not.
Anyway, the whole experience started me wondering about my 1992 965. Overall, I'm very happy with this car. I absolutely love the way it drives and I love the leather seats. Pure cruising. It has done 327.500km, the engine feels as new. But... it has no airbags or ESP, just SIPS and ABS (and eh... it's weight).
On top of that, it's beginning to get old. It has developed several rust spots (windshield, doors, etc), and I'm beginning to face lots of problems (PNP-switch starts to fail again, sagging rear suspension, some oil and cooling liquid leaks, leaking roof, failing seat heater, failing mirror heater, ...).
So I started to look for some used Volvo-cars: the S60, V70 and S80 with 2.4 turbo petrol engines combined with an automatic gearbox... to achieve a somewhat compareable ride to my 965. But I found out, with help from www.carsurvey.org, that they aren't as reliable as they should. Is this correct?
I visited the European Motor Show Brussels, and thought the Toyota Avensis Wagon, the Honda Accord Tourer and especially the Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon are pretty good alternatives. Maybe it's better to check out the web for good used cars of those brands, instead of buying a Volvo?
What do you think? Thanks for your opinion.
