Drop your dome light out, and put some electrical tape on any exposed terminals. Make sure the wires are all seated onto their pins.
It sounds like the dome light is shorting out against the metal of the roof.


The same circuit for the dome light does supply power to the radio (usually 740 owners figure this one out first).
