I agree, it is great advice given the symptoms described. The only thing that has me puzzled, is I know Bulletproof from his posts to be very savvy, and figure he just omitted mentioning his check of the terminal connections.

There's that common, but more insidious trouble with the cables, where the wire is crimped inside the terminals- that you mention. Hidden corrosion sets in, making a freshly cleaned and tightened battery cable yet intermittent. I've replaced a few of those clamps too.
