Hi Rob,
Sand Dragon has two identical posts on this and I responded to the other one yesterday, as "Too Many Tests?"
IMO, he seems to have a coil problem, despite his stated "coil tester" success.
This is based on test step #5, below [my bold]:
5. Checking Power supply i.e. fuses, wiring etc. : Tool = Test Light. Check coil term #15 (+) and #1 (-) with key on II Pass equals test light bright. Light dim #1 (-) is check for powerstage. Light off is a fail. Items for failure power stage, all wiring and their terminals, ignition switch.
Fail.
Failed on #15?
Failed on #1?
Failed Both?
I don't know where this test sequence came from, but I assumed SD had power at #15, or he would have stopped right there. So I guessed he "failed" at #1 (voltage not getting thru primary).
In any case, I suspect a test that doesn't list the COIL as a Failure Item when testing the coil primary, and doesn't clearly discriminate depending on which primary terminal "fails".
And I would not list the powerstage either, for this static coil test.
Too much disinformation altogether, for me.
