Saw in the news yesterday that they're building a biodiesel plant in SW Washington. Supposed to churn out 100 million gallons a year, or some such. I don't know what they're using for raw material -- up here we use blackberry vines for kudzu, and I don't think that'll work. The blackberries are too good to eat, in any case.
They just passed a law that all diesel sold in the state has to have a minimum 2% bio content. The plant's being built in a region that has a lot of poverty, so I guess there will be some good jobs resulting from it. It's weird to think of the Lower Columbia Basin as being an oil-producing region...
