Am I missing something here???.... 200 1980

Okay about the possible six-cylinder tachometer. But, ha, ha, that would make the tach register 50% too high and even harder to mentally calculate (from it, use 2/3 of the tach's reading) the engine's (a V8) rpm than the 4-cyl tachometer for which you just have to halve the indicated rpm.

Anyway, do you think the original poster realizes that you can't use a 4-cyl (or 6-cyl) tachometer for a V8? Or that the tach would be "pegged" when the V8 was at only 3,500 rpm or so. That's what I was wondering about.... :-)

Anyway, I saw pictures of your '80 dashboard. I can't be of help (I'm only 3,000 miles away), but I'm wishing you luck. Mainly, follow your manuals to the letter, and be slow, careful and patient.

Best regards,
