Depends on what year 940 I suppose. The 940 and 960 got a different style shifter in 1993. The new style uses fewer bushings, and requires a different linkage. The center console trim may or may not be different, I'm unsure. Other than that, they should swap over just fine. If slop is an issue, chances are you just need new bushings. On my 760 there are four of them.
