The first time I broke the throttle cable a couple Volvo racers sead 'They break all the time didn't any body tell you to watch them?"

I put in a throttle stop at the pedal. Broke another cable. Purchased a Locar brand cable from Summit and used the center only, not the housing. The Locar cable it thicker and stronger. I had to cut off the treads on the set screw piece that came with the Locar cable and weld on a volvo cable end. It fits inside the spock cable housing. Never had another problem. Good luck.
