Well, originally, the plastic covers were glued to the headlight body, and it all came out in a single piece. You can however, replace just the lens - fcp groton carries them at $55 per side. They are available elsewhere too. You then glue them back on, after cleaning out the old glue. Some guys have mentioned they use various water-resistant glues - check the brickboard.
Personally, I go to the local pick n pull, and get new headlights there. I can usually find at least one good set among the cars there, and they cost about $25 per. I now keep a spare set available. By the way, our local pnp has a 50% off sale about once a month - so I only pay about $25 per set.
