There is a solid state ignition amplifier mounted inside the front driver's fender in the engine compartment. They are generally reliable, but I have had to replace mine (same symptoms). Slamming the hood may be shaking a loose connector body also. Check your grounds and connector bodies again, and put a known good amplifier in for a test.
