83 760 Idle problem 700

A friend just gave me his 83 760 with 79000 miles. The car is in mint condition but has some mechanical issues. It starts great, but it won't idle at all until it warms up, and even then it is still hunting and rough. Once on the highway it will cruise down the road as smooth as could be. Does anybody have any similar problems with this 2.8 engine? Thanks.
