Does not compute.....

The EGR valve has nothing to do with an EVAP problem. They are two different systems.

The EGR valve is located above the starter on the rear of the engine, driver's side.

Besides..... I didn't think the 96+ engines had an EGR valve.

Could they have meant EVAP valve ?????
