I was thinking of cutting our the part that blocks the dist from further rotation and using a large washer under the bolt to better grip the remaining bracket. I want to maintain easy switch back to points in case of breakdown.

Other people have converted, yet so far, no indication of change in dwell or timing adjustment problems from them.
