Fun with the 444 444-544

I had a 444 with a straight pipe on it when I worked at Kelly AFB in San Antonio. Normally it wasn't too loud but it would resonate at about 3500
rpm which amounted to about 13 mph in first gear. On the way out to go home
I would go between a couple of hangars and it would pretty much thunder there.
The speed limit was 15 mph so I was pretty careful because the base police
would lay for me. If I remember right the Texas inspection required them to
inspect for exhaust leaks but not for the presence of a muffler at that time.
Sounded pretty neat in between the hangars.
ps: the muffler rusted out and I found a piece of electrical conduit just the
right size to replace it.
