Someone must have upgraded yours to carpet before you got it. A 71 carpet set will fit perfectly. Later ones have the hole for the shifter in the wrong place.

I have owned a 68 144 and a 70 145, both of which had rubber floor mats and a small piece of carpet on the top of the transmission tunnel.

Another thing that was different on early cars was the door sill trims. They were aluminum with V notched decorative pattern, instead of the plain black plastic on later models.
