86 240 stalling problem (update)

Like Aye Roll said, the resistance of the coil will vary with temperature. More than you expected, clearly. When you catch it going DOWN with heat (shorting turns) then you've got the coil red-handed. Same if you see it going OPEN, of course. But not up.

Don't forget to gently wiggle the old V/C ignition trouble spots while it is running; the connector Aye Roll mentioned to start, then the Hall effect connector at the distributor, and the plug on the ignition computer.
