engine won't start 700 1989

Whilst cranking, listen for the fuel pump - should hum and continue for a second after you release the key. If silent, I'd strongly suspect the hall sensor, which commonly fails after, say, 150k. If the pump runs, but tach is dead it's almost certainly the power stage. This is because the tach is pulsed by the power stage itself. Regards.
