My advice is to troubleshoot and fix the problem!

The floor switches are not junk but are subjected to moisture located where they are...did you EVER lube it or do any other PREVENTATIVE maintenance to it, or the rest of your electrical system?...(it's only going on 50 years)...if not, it is my opinion that your bitching is unjustified...those Volvos just don't last!
