Odd Power cut problem 200 1990

90' 244dl m47

My DD, a 1990 244dl, is having a strange problem. When i turn on the lights, apply the brakes, or sometimes when the 940 e-fan kicks on, it either stalls, or almost stalls enough to turn off my cd player. what should i look at? I am thinking alternator, but haven't messed with it. any ideas?
