Start all your checks around the big grey 8-pin connector on the firewall. If you replaced wires in the harness, you've already been here. Look for damage to a white wire in there- that's ignition power, and I had it ground out on my friend's 84 that I fixed when it wouldn't start. The lifting eye on the back of the intake manifold actually kind of wore through this wire until it shorted out.
Other places to look for wiring damage would be right behind the battery at the rail with all the other electrical connections on it. Not ruling anything out entirely, have a look at the flasher relay down by your right foot,, inside the left side console kick panel, and also just check the wiring out to the front turn signals.
Hopefully something fairly obvious turns up as far as physical damage to a wire.
