More Info and Pic 120-130 1967

I'm taking a break for lunch before I hoist the B18 out. I thought to check down the distributor shaft with a small flashlight. The drive gear is undamaged...?!

Still if you take a look at the scorched and discolored lower half of my distributor shaft you can see that something went very wrong in there. Oddly the upper part where it sheared is fine. This leads me to think that this breakage was a result of the initial problem and not the cause of it.

Did I mention the sludge/crud that had collected on top of my magnetic oil plug? My guess is that it formed from excess heat.

The investigation continues...
