Hi everyone--I am in the midst of auto electrical hell. I have a 1987 745Ti, with 169,000 miles. A couple of weeks ago, both on the freeway and around town, the engine suddenly, briefly, cut out, and the tach jumped wildly about. So....I looked at Brickboard, and took it to my ace Volvo guy. We agree that it's time to bite the bullet and replace the wiring harness. Distributor O rings also replaced to correct an annoying oil leak. Two weeks later, the same symptom. Only this time, after the tach jumps wildly while idling the car after starting, the engine dies and will not start. So---back to the garage, where they replace the power block and ignition coil. It runs for one day, then I get the same fault---engine cutting out, losing electrical. Now they want to replace the entire distributor, which makes sense to me.
Does anyone out there have any idea what could be causing my problem? This is really frustrating, though I am getting to all of the nagging parts that I've been meaning to renew since I got the car.
Thanks............tifosi
