Choke Cable Replacement 120-130

I'm replacing the choke cables on the SU's. Mine are barely long enough, and at times hang up. Is the generic NAPA cable okay, or should I look elsewhere? Also, any tips on installing the cable? I peeked under the dash at the control, and the cable appears to be one continuous length that is wrapped around a stud with the sheath and spring coil removed.Is this the correct installation? How much slack should I allow in the cable?
