stalling problem 200 1988

Yes, fuse corrosion and loose fuse clips have been the cause of stalling on some of my Volvos. I'd recommend cleaning the fuse clips and installing new fuses. I put a thin layer of a silicone grease such as SylGlide on the fuses and clips. When I do this, I have no more fuse problems.

Another odd cause of stalling I had was a positive battery cable which had internal corrosion between the cable and the terminal which clamps on the battery. The battery terminal could be clean, look good, and the connector tight and still there was a poor connection. The proper solution would have been a new cable. Instead, I used a large soldering iron to heat the connection between the cable and terminal and then flowed solder down into the connection. This worked for years until we finally had to scrap the car.

A third cause of stalling I've had, on a K-car, was an intermittent Hall sensor in the distributor. I've not had this in any Volvo but I think others may have.
