I've got an '89 745 turbo with a leaky exhaust manfold gasket. I've yet to receive the Haynes manual from IPD, and in the mean time am trying to figure out which parts to buy. Does anyone know of a good (illustrated with photographs) description of how to do this R&R?
(1) I assume the exhaust manifold gaskets from eeuroparts (Elring) are ok - does NAPA/Carquest/etc have decent supplies for an old car like the 745?
(2) I'm guessing repair looks something like
i. remove intake/intercooler hoses, plug wires, etc
ii. loosen nuts holding turbo to down-pipe
iii. loosen exhaust manifold nuts
iv. remove turbo oil/coolant fittings
v. curse and scrape knuckles as the turbo comes out very slowly
Is this more or less how the manifold comes off? Are there seals I should replace "while I'm there" for the turbo oil/coolant fittings?
any advice appreciated!
