Many people seem to feel that an SEV regulator wont work with a bosch alternator (and visa versa). I changed from a 35amp SEV to a 55amp bosch and left the SEV voltage regulator in there. That was 18 months ago. Voltage holds around 14.2 volts throughout the RPM/load range so I think it works fine. Not saying this will always work, but it did for me.
