Hello All:

Thanks for the many responses.

Joaquin - the gold-colored clamp you attached to your post is exactly what I need. Thanks, and thanks for the primer on wire gauges.

George - great suggestion on the wire-strip-double back idea.

Brett - an interesting thing happens when I take off the wire. The car does not run at all. This is our daily driver so I need to keep Wendy on our side.

Believe it or not the way I get parts these days is from the NAPA store on 125th Street in Manhattan. I actually take mass transit to get auto parts. Pretty crazy, but it works when you have only one car and it is an Amazon.

Replacing the actual cable is something I had not considered since it appears to be in good shape. Is there a way I can use my multimeter to check resistance through the cable?
