Changing the idle speed on these new cars with fuel injection is all about regulating the amount of air drawn into the intake manifold.
Your engine coolant temerature sensor could be unplugged or no longer up to snuff. Those wires are quite old.
Or you could have a broken vacuum line allowing extra air into the manifold.
Or you could have a stuck open idle air control valve.
The list goes on...
