I have an '80. I just keep oiling the motor.

Though I haven't pulled apart the blower, I'm wondering if there is a resistor pack. Correct me if I'm wrong but, my impression is that the pre-81 motors were designed differently. Ie. they had leads coming directly off the coil at different positions to give different speeds.
