Carpet padding - insulation 200

I know this is "old school" advice, so treat it as such. I am not a fan of foam backing as it degrades with time and temperature, it also provides minimal sound deadening qualities.

Don't laugh, but I'll go back to the Ford T-Bird of the 60s, very quiet plush ride. Carpets were similar to modern age auto carpets but the backing was the equivalent of 1/4 inch thick horse blanket(Tractor supply and so on). This provides a soft feel, excellent sound deadening and is easy to install without glue or other nasties. Downside is if it gets wet, it won't dry out easily. The other issue is that it is NOT flame retardant, not a biggy since most aftermarket carpets are a pyro's wet dream!
