turbo failure, again?

Eehhh, I'd not be so quick to condemn this guys turbo without hearing it first.

The wife's '91 740T has had a pretty annoying amount of turbo whine since we bought it over five years ago. I worried about it a little at first, but it doeesn't use oil and has racked up 70K or so miles on the original turbo since we bought it at 165K.

Maybe the sound is just the normal whine of air being compressed at 15,000+RPM in the turbo. We have no additional information like oil loss to indicate a ruined turbo. I think maybe you're jumping the gun a little on this one.
