Emissions failure/ check engine light S90-V90 1997

Alright guys, got me a 1997 960 with about 140K...so my CE light was on for a few weeks and then "Condition Black!" failed the Massachusetts RMV emissions, t'was no surprise though.

What are the possible engine/exhaust components, or combination thereof, that could contribute to this failure.....now I know there are quite a few goodies ($$$) along the line, but I would like to be armed with info for when
it is time to pay the mechanix bill.

For what it is worth guys, I have the "On-Board Diagnostic System" printout stating trouble codes present are P0410 and P0172
