Timing mark/notch question 700

"I can't use both of them. One notch is about an inch ahead of the other notch. Only one can be perfect TDC, right???"

No, you can't. And you can't see or use them both at the same time either. That's what I tried to explain. You use the sprocket/washer notches when you have the pulley off and are able to see them.

With the pulley in place, you can't see the sprocket/washers, so the pulley has a 0° notch, with timing references on the cover that are "offset", meaning placed where they are easy to see or shine a timing light at.
