Both SWEM and IPD have a document or two. 1800

I performed the same conversion for my 1967 P220 (122S Wagon) and was satisfied with the results after I got a working alternator.

If you jump over to the IPD website, they have a PDF document that describes how to wire up the alternator to your existing system. I think it is accessible from the alternator conversion bracket description.

Similarly, Ron Kwas has a good description of this at his SW-EM website.

Ron has a bit more detail, but seems to prefer the AC Delco type. Myself, I preferred the bolt-on perfection of sticking with an original (later) 55 amp Bosch unit onto my 67 block with the proper cast "ear." Your '64 probably does not have the "ear" so I think you'd near one of the kits from either.
