running rich no start 700

Follow up: Rechecked the work done. The Engine Temperature Control sensor had a loose conection. Dried the plugs and the car started right up and idled smooth. Took it out on the highway and ran fine. No black smoke. Back on the road.
My neighbour down the street just had his '90 740 16 valve drop the #3 cylinder.
Runs like a BAD deisel. The car is in great shape. Too bad about the motor.
