I'm interested in an ad I saw for a 1990 245 with a blown valve cover gasket and "pinhole in the radiator" Obviously I would replace the gasket, probably the whole radiator and definitly the flame trap. My question is how can I tell if damage has been done to the engine due to lack of oil from the blown gasket. Would I have to remove the valve cover to look for metal shavings. Is there any chance at all this car could be driveable in the state that it is in? The guy says in the ad that he "took her to the mechanic to get her diagnosed." Is it toast if it wasn't towed? If I can get it for a good deal and make the repairs myself could it be worth it?
Thanks!
