Hello,

Find a retailer that sells Bosch and ask them to get you a geninue Bosch REMANUFACTURED starter, Bosch number SR37X.

You will probably get the latest gear reduction starter that is used on the later B230F Volvos.

The later starters use different bolts to mount and the holes in the bellhousing will need a drilled a little bigger as the bolt is now a 12mm instead of a 7/16". Drilling is a little tricky, I use a mechanics legnth(shorter than standard) 12 mm drill in an 1/2" chuck angle drill and drill the upper hole from the engine bay side. I then switch to a stardard 1/2 chuck drill and drill lower starter hole from the transmission side.

The driveshaft will have to be disconnected at the transmission and the transmission crossmember bolts removed so that the engine/transmission is tilted back far enough to get the clearance to get the upper starter bolt into the bellhousing hole.

This is a lot of work and when ever I have a customer with an older Volvo that used the old style of mounting with through bolts and nuts, and I have the bellhousing off for any reason, I drill the bellhousing so in the future if I have to update the starter, I won't have to do it in the car.
