Oil Question S90-V90

Since I got the 1997 965 in May 2005, I have run only Mobil-1 synthetic. First change I went with 10W-40. Second change I went with 5W-40 and almost got rid of the start-up clatter as the valve hydraulic lifters pump up. The engine starts and gets to 2000rpm very fast, so I wanted an oil that would get to work fast.

Went with 5W-30 last fall, and the engine was not happy. Back now to 5W-40, happy engine. I loose about a quart between 5,000 mile changes.

Houston winters are seldom below 25F, but our rummsers can hit 105F.
