Speedo/odometer problem/replacement 700

About 1 year ago I replaced the instrument cluster on my 1990 740 GLE 16 valve
because the speedometer and odometer stopped working.I replaced the entire cluster with one with 160K. It has been working fine till this past Sunday (about 15K)when the speedo started acting up. It started going all over the place,then it stopped working,then works again. It seems like it acts up (work/no work) when I go over some bumps or make sudden turns. Same with odometer.
What should I look for as a cause? Should I get a replacement? If so does it need to be one from a 1990 or other years will fit? Mine is the rectangular case
with fuel,temp,clock,speedo and tach gauges and the little rubber cover in the middle to reset service light.
