Why? Catastrophic coolant loss...

I am so glad that there is a heater hose back there. I wonder if it is that far forward though.
It seems to be in front of the starter... :/

The water pump, thermostat and upper hose are new, coolant tank used, radiator rodded and resealed.
Old components are:
mechanical fan (I want an electric one), heater hose..s?, heater switch, and radiator cap, and lower radiator hose. I have a black cap and I think I should drop to a lower pressure cap.

I honestly never thought about the heater hoses back there when I overhauled the rest of the system.
