Volvo 240

Greetings, I have a 1992 240 wagon with automatic trans. The shift button has somehow malfunctioned and no longer goes down, making it impossible to get the car out of park, and thus drive the car. I'm totally stuck. Has anyone encountered this one, and how does one fix this?? Thanks for the help.
