Yes, check the VIN in every place. Trichard hit some places. Dash, rear edge of driver's door, metal plate on RF inner fender (partial only) and on a label found by lifting up the storage pocket cover in the RH side of the cargo area.

A few other things to check. 1993 has ABS, so look for the operating device in the engine bay. Mounted on the LF inner fender. If there is a power steering fluid reservior there, walk away. No stock B23F 240 came with ABS.

Leather seats have buttons. No buttons = vinyl.

At a casual glance the B23F and B230F look alike. Look at the front of the engine at the timing belt cover. B23F is one piece top to bottom. B230F is in two pieces.

The B23F used the York 2-cylinder a/c compressor, B230F has a rotary compressor. In either case they are mounted on the left (intake) side of the engine, under the power steering pump. Also, the p/s belt adjuster is quite different. Look for a long all-visible bolt, close to vertical, on a B230F.

Note also of how eager the seller is, does he/she really want to get rid of the car? Quick drop in asking price?

Good Luck,

Bob
