Hi, If your set up is the same as the 960 (the cable looks identical) you will have to replace the drivers side cable through to the handle. You can see the cable disappear in the same place as mine,up past the tank. The passenger side pushes out where it meets the drivers side cable, the joint so to speak is made of an alloy which looks quite flimsy considering what job it is doing, but a direct inline pull which it is designed for is OK. The reason i mention this is because i took my 960 to an ordinary car garage and they bent the drivers side cable to get it up and over the petrol tank, they then connected the passenger side cable. After 2 weeks the alloy joint broke. They replaced it under guarantee saying the Volvo part was faulty. After another 2 weeks it broke again at the same place. The garage washed there hands of it and said take it to Volvo. They actually gave me my money back £180.00. I took it to my Volvo dealer and they removed the petrol tank to install the drivers cable to the handle properly without bending it. It seems that the bending must shorten the cables travel which already stresses that alloy joint and then when you apply the handbrake BANG. That was 2 years ago and no problems. The total cost i believe was about £220 but the parts were £80. Hope this gives you an idea what you could be in for? Regards
