Dyno Test and points 140-160

Well, my Volvo avoided the shop like a kid avoids the dentist. I tuned up the car for the dyno, it ran fine. The next day on the way to work the points starting slipping in the dizzy. I would drive a little further and the points would slip out again. I cancelled the dyno test. On the way home I pulled out the points I installed and noticed a thick film of clean oil on the dizzy's points platform. It is a new distributor with less than 800 miles on it. Maybe there was excess oil in the felt pad? I cleaned up the points platform and sight set the points and limped home. The new points really changed the timing compared to the point adjustments I made with the oily points.
I had a busy weekend so I will be trying to get to the retune today. Never seen points shift like that. I am hoping it was the oil. Any thoughts?
For sure I am going to solid state point system soon. It sure is nice to have a new dizzy that you can set the point gap by sight (verified with meter). After the forth time setting them in a day, it got pretty easy to dial up the right dwell.
