Chime sound 200 1992

Helo all,

This is my first posting, but I have been using this excellent forum learn how to fix and troubleshoot my wonderful 92 Volvo 240 that I bought for $900 last July. With the advise of all of your postings I have replaced all the engine seals and gaskets; front rear, top, and bottom. Have resurrected the A/C system. Replaced timing belt; transmission seals and gaskets; rear trailing arm bushings. Got rid of the pulley noises by putting new poly bushings.

There is one problem that I can't seem to find a solution. I hear a chime when the car is running but only if I push (not turn) the steering wheel to the right, the sound last for about 5 seconds, then stops. I can wait 5 minutes and push the steering wheel and the chime comes back again. I have noticed that my seat belt warning light and sound do not come on; I don't know if this is realted though.

It seems to me the there is a short somewhere in the steering column, but I can't find anything. Any ideas everybody?

Jorge
